Vernacular Spectacular 2023 - Montréal

Moving History Director Breai Michele is a Guest Artist for this year's Vernacular Spectacular in Montréal, Canada!

Vernacular Spectacular is an event that explores the origins of jazz dance and music: within the multitude of black cultures, within their expressive and participatory nature, within the importance of complicity and reciprocal dialogue between dancers and musicians.
A vernacular dance. A spectacular dance.

An annual event: We deeply believe that Jazz dance cannot be experienced in a vacuum. It needs external influences to come true, to develop, to be a culture and a living dance. The choice of our guests reflects this audacity, to seek artists who have found a way to anchor their dance in its history while expressing its meaning and individual expression in its present time and in a larger world.
